Our Mission

Sri Lankan Janaza Scheme was formed in 2008 to ease the burden on families in the case of a sudden death in the Sri Lankan community in the North and West of Melbourne. It is run by volunteers and is entirely funded through generous donations and the membership fees of community members.

Our Services

Our main service is to provide burial plots free of charge to subscribed members. In addition, we aim to financially assist the family of the deceased to cover other burial costs through loans. Our executive committee members also assist the family of the deceased in identifying an appropriate funeral director, moving the body from the house to the funeral directors and co-ordinating with the local authorities for burial. We conduct training & education programs in relation to final rites to the community.
